People become really quite remarkable when they start thinking that they can do things.
When they believe in themselves they have the first secret of success.

We are proud to announce our newest Christine’s Hero, Claire King. Claire is in the seventh grade at Timberlane Middle School in Pennington, NJ. Claire first became involved with Christine’s Hope for Kids at her school after collecting used sporting equipment. She became interested in helping other kids and liked what the Foundation was doing. She and her friend Bryn decided to sell rock candy at the science fair and donated the money raised to CHFK. But she didn’t stop there! After she read about our
backpack for kids drive she enlisted the help of her sister Elizabeth and brothers David and John to assemble backpacks and give them to us for the drive. Claire is a real go-getter and passionate about helping others in need. Next, she decided to hold a bake sale. With
the help of her friends they organized, held meetings, baked, made signs, and manned the table. The girls made a whopping $540.00. That sure is a lot of cookies!!   While the funds are much needed to support us, it is not about the money Claire raises. It is her kind, generous, and compassionate spirit to help kids in need that has touched our hearts. She is
the perfect example of all that can happen when one kid wants to make a difference. We are proud and honored to have Claire King represent us as “Christine’s Hero.”
When we recall the past, we usually find that it is the simplest things—-not the great occasions—that in retrospect give off the greatest glow of happiness.

I recently watched while a friend recounted a story of her childhood. It was a silly story of little things she remembered like a piggy bank made out of an old Clorox bottle. Her face lit up as she remembered these little things that brought her joy. This is what we are all trying to do, just give these kids some great memories of their childhood, some special times. So maybe someday their face will light up when they tell a story of a simple, sweet memory.

We thank you for all you generous contributions and support this past year. There will be so many kids going to camp, getting swim lessons, playing on baseball fields, attending leadership conferences, receiving pajama bags, attending art classes and therapeutic riding classes, getting books and backpacks and the list goes on and on… all because of you and your help. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts and Christine’s Kids thank you too!! Wishing you a Happy, Healthy and Peaceful 2012.
Children will not remember you for the material things you provided but for the feeling that you cherished them.
